Meet the Leadership Team

I’ve spent my entire working life helping businesses find great people.  I’m hugely passionate about business and people and what drives me daily is helping others.  There’s nothing I enjoy more than really getting under the skin of a new business and learning about what makes them different and their future vision, and then being part of helping them achieve that vision.

I’m also very curious, I love meeting new people and learning about them and also learning from them. Hence why I have spent over 20 years within this industry (and counting…) and continue to give my all to every client and candidate I engage with.  Knowing that we as a business help people transform their lives and develop their career on the back of our endeavours is hugely rewarding and the reason behind why I do what I do.

When I’m not working, my life is dominated by sport, both watching and playing.  Be it golf, skiing, water-skiing, walking, football, table-tennis, you name it I love it.  I’m also a massive foodie and love a drop or two of a decent red. I also love to travel and indulge in other cultures and cuisine.

My path to Operations Director isn't a typical one.

Despite being very academic, I left uni after 3 months. I'd started a media degree and thought industry experience was more valuable than a qualification. Which is true, if you can get your foot in the door, but it didn't go that way for me. Falling back on what I knew, I got a job in retail and worked my way to Store Manager before deciding I was sick of working weekends!

A brief stint as a Recruitment Consultant made me see that my strengths lay in a support role, which is how I ended up at Adam. In 2015 I took an Administrator role and set to work carving out my career. I knew this was the place I wanted to stay - somewhere I could add real value and would allow me to mould the role into what I wanted it to be. 2021 saw me start the year as Operations Director and I'm excited to see where we can take the business as we embark on the next leg of our journey.

I'm often hidden behind the scenes at Adam, having an impact in the areas you don't necessarily see - HR, IT, process improvement & systems management etc. However, you'll also find me all over Adam's marketing - from producing blogs and whitepapers, to podcasts and YouTube videos - along with my right hand woman, Kimi!

I'm a creative at heart and you'll typically find my covered in paint or glue like a toddler. I like to think I've improved my craft skills a little over my 30+ years though. I sing for fun too, but haven't been on stage in a few years. There are some videos knocking around still from my time in a Happy Monday's tribute. My current big project is restoring our 1972 VW T2 campervan and I'm often found out in the countryside on long walks at the weekends!

My early career was in Sales, Marketing and general management before I “fell” into recruitment after doing well at a job interview.

Having worked for over 20 years helping clients shape recruitment strategies or find important strategic hires, I now continue to advise on how best to hire. I'll also challenge hiring strategy and help clients hire directly by building an internal team, utilise our experts either one off or as an RPO model, or take a blended approach, as we do for larger clients.

You will get total honesty from me in a consultative and professional way but delivered as someone who has launched and run my own business. I can empathise with a very wide range of business challenges. I remain in talent/hiring and recruitment as I love meeting new people; from helping people with the careers to solving major client problems around people and talent. It allows me to be at the forefront of growth plans for a large number of varied businesses. It fascinates me as I'm both able to add value and learn simultaneously.

Away from work my time is spent with family, kids, dog, hiking, skiing as well as enjoying cooking and wine with friends…

I fell into recruitment.

My degree is life science degree and I did a placement year at Pfizer in medical research. I loved the theory of it, but practically it was quite a lonely, slow-paced career. I craved the buzz of a rich, vibrant working environment. When I left uni I joined Sainsbury's on their grad scheme, handling a lot of HR and recruitment. I LOVED the recruitment angle so made the fateful step into working for an agency.

Throughout my career I've mainly worked across the marketing and HR markets, settling into HR in 2002 and never looking back. I simply love HR candidates! I find them utterly fascinating. It's a joy to learn about their experiences and how they personally deliver their brand of HR magic. I don't think anyone chooses to go into recruitment, but after all these years I still love my job. It never gets boring.

You can expect an honest, pragmatic approach from me, with advice derived from years of successful campaigns. For me, the privilege of helping someone develop their career and adding true value to a business is what it's all about.

I have a busy home life with 2 teenage daughters and a naughty Cockapoo. I love cooking, wine tasting & taking wine exams, running 5ks and can usually be found plotting my next foreign adventure in any quiet moment I can find.

From previously working in a large blue-chip recruiter with the owners of Adam, I quickly realised my life would take a turn and I would be a part of the journey of Adam from 2006. Initially recruiting across all areas of marketing/digital, helping to build what we see today. I now manage a team, heading up client services and being a part of the overall growth of the business. I focus a lot of my time working on Executive/C-suite assignments, which involves full market-mapping and headhunting.

After teaching for 5 years and traveling for 2, recruitment found me. I was pitched the role of a recruiter at an interview whilst looking for a job at an agency. Next thing you know I was working 8am to 8pm for a large blue chip in town!

My passion for recruitment only really started at Adam. Before that I was doing it purely for the money as I wanted a house, car and the ability to say yes to any holiday/weekend away. At Adam I was able to see a business grow from nothing and actually see how to do it right; long term relationships, partnering and helping clients for years, now decades in some cases, and treating people right. Thankfully we don't work anywhere near those long hours too.

Outside of work it's anything outdoors! My passion for sport developed at a young age - football, mixed martial arts, Tae Kwon Do, boxing, kickboxing to name a few. My passion is still sport, usually golf, cycling, running and snowboarding but I enjoy anything outdoors. If I am not up a mountain, on a golf course or in a Kayak you will find me in a pub beer garden … or doing DIY 🤷‍♂️
